Ready to make your backyard or community space more environnmentally friendly? Audubon at Home is a program designed to foster better stewardship of nearby nature. Audubon at Home provides a range of practical ways that people in the area can use to create more natural habitats around their homes. Through the program, northern Virginians are finding methods to “naturalize” and nurture our local environment. Audubon at Home stresses: - Conservation and protection of water - e.g. by using rain barrels
- Removal of invasive plants
- Replacement of non-native plants with native species
- Reduction or elimination of commercial fertilizers and pesticides
- Greater preservation of public and private natural areas
The ASNV Audubon at Home initiative is helping people bring nature back to the homes and communities here in northern Virginia. Are you planning on landscaping for wildlife at your home, school, or community property? If so, contact us at

We encourage all Audubon at Home program participants to help us to track the impact of your efforts. By observing your natural space before and after you make eco-friendly changes and recording which animals are visiting, you will contribute valuable information about the effects these small but important landscape changes have on our wildlife.
